SeaWorld Strings Holiday Lights

Just how do you string lights on a 400-foot Christmas tree? SeaWorld Orlando has become expert at doing just that, decking out its 400-foot Christmas tree of lights for over 25 years.
This holiday beacon, topped with a 20-foot star and adorned with 2,462 amber bulbs, stands in the middle of the park and can be seen from miles away - even by airline passengers flying over Orlando.
Preparing the skytower for the holidays is no easy task. It takes two days and over 30 workers to hang the 200-pound star and string 10,000 feet of lights.
No, they don't use a 400-foot ladder to hang their lights, they use the tower's motorized capsule. At ground level, both the star and lights are attached to the capsule for their ascent to the skies. Once the star is in place, each of the 24, 400-foot-long light strands is transported one at a time.
Other holiday events at SeaWorld include:
• 'Clydesdale Christmas' - The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales parade through the park adorned with jingle bells and carrying a 14-foot Christmas tree on their wagon.
• 'Pets Ahoy!' - Holiday décor will take over the stage as a cast of performing pets adopted from animal shelters celebrates the season.
• 'Shamu Rocks America' - Killer whales perform feats to a festive holiday rock 'n roll beat.
• 'New Year's Eve Celebration' - Fireworks and lasers light up the winter sky at midnight to ring in 2002.
• 'Christmas in Hawaii' - The South Seas with a festive holiday twist, this nightly celebration of music, dance and cuisine is set under holiday lights in SeaWorld's Luau Terrace. Reservations are required and can be made by calling: 800-327-2424. Park admission is not required. The luau is a separate ticket.
