I think it might be you Shroom as it's been lightning fast for me here all morning :D
According to http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/27362.html there seems to be a spot of bother in the Midlands and South East. Even if you're not a FreeServe subscriber, you might well be affected by traffic being re-routed and causing a bottle-neck somewhere.
