Hi

Just got back from Sanford today via Monarch Premium. Just like to say two things:-

1/ Never will I go to Sanford again unless it is really cheap

2/ Never go on Monarch premium again either no matter how cheap!!.

Firstly, I had a horrendous journey from Gatwick on Monarch, we were 4 hours late going out. Upon our arrival at Sanford it took us 2 and 1/2 hours to get out of the airport, that was without a queue at the car hire (we had Hertz - dollar and Alamo had at least a 1 hour wait)
When we came back the airport was so busy and so smoky!! You could not get a seat anywhere.

Premium - means nothing with Monarch, firstly you have a 2-4-2 formation, you have the same pitch as a virgin flight. Also your luggage gets a priority tag so it comes off first ?? - No way upon arrival at Sanford it took over 1 hour for our luggage, it was lastone (obviously the americans do not know what priority means). At Gatwick we were not given priority disembarkment like most upgrades, in fact I do not know what we got extra.

Crew - not the best tried to get extra drinks which were complimentary you would think that they were paying for it themsleves.

Everybody around us was complaining - everybody tried to get an upgrade on the way back cos it was so bad in normal class.

anyway I know I am tired with jet lag but that is it for me. going back out in 4 weeks time - with virgin

We had a great flight with Monarch 3 weeks ago and got through Sanford airport very quickly(cheapest flight available)

The immigration staff were exceptionally nice and got us up to speed with the current situation

We flew back on the day they were closing the airport;a squad of airport staff met every car to appraise you of the current situation and we flew out half an hour late (as warned) but arrived on time.

The only thing I would say is that it took us a long time to board;but given the situation that was understandable and all were good humoured

Oh,and I nearly forgot, the hostess making the announcements was French and nobody could understand a word.I pointed this out to a staff member who was a bit embarrassed but then made the announcements herself.

We have only had one bad flight to Florida ever,so dont mind who we fly with;indirect or direct.

Mind you we did once fly to Moscow with Aeroflot!!!!!!

Aeroflot!!!!

Now they are on my list of airlines not to fly with!!!!

Aeroflot[msnmad] our first trip to Florida was with them in 1990...dreadful. But they were the only ones with affordable flights at that time. No seatbelt, seatback did not stay "up"...still they got us there - shame the luggage went on its own holidays around the world and only joined us in Florida in time for the flight home
Needless to say, I would not travel with them even if the flights were free[msneek][msnscared][msnoo]

We flew Virgin Premium Economy this year (have booked same again for 2005). At Orlando the baggage comes out at a seperate reclaim and at Gatwick our cases were 7th & 10th off of the plane. Never spent so little time in airports, it was great.

We flew Virgin Premium this summer and our bags and many other Premium bags came of last at both orlando and Manchester, really frustrating!!:(

Lucy, didn't they come out at a seperate reclaim at Orlando?

We have always flown Virgin Prem Econ and have never had a seperate reclaim. However, (I'm probably going to jinx myself) Our bags have always come of within the first five cases and we have normally got at least eight bags between the five of us.

We have got the whole process of picking up bags and getting car down to under and hour from landing, including immigration.

They are supposed to but to start with No they didn't. after waiting for ages they came out on both the Econ and Prem Econ belts, pushchair came out first at the odd sized baggage area!!

We arrived in Sanford in July and everything was O.K. But good grief, coming back the airport was absolutely like a football match, very very overcrowded and uncomfortable. It was a Saturday and it was school hols, but even so it was unacceptable. I have never seen it like that before and never wish to again. The flights were with Britannia and were fine. Chloe

We must have been lucky then. Going out in August we were in the car under half an hour from landing and coming home it must have been about 20mins (there was only the 2 of us).
