After a long day at MGM's one Tuesday evening we decided to try Denny's. It so happened that on a Tuesday children ate free - great an added bonus we thought.

We stopped at one on the 192 but there was such a queue to be seated we thought we would try our local one. Our local one is on the 27 just passed the I4 junction. We only waited a few minutes to be seated. Now we know why. Bad service and bad food - talk about food floating in fat.

So would strongly recommend you stay away.

We too have tried Dennys and if you want an American Diner that sells high fat content burgers, steaks etc then this is your place. We find the food and service OK but it is not expensive and it really is "a fat fix" in basic surroundings but sometimes when travelling around this is the only alternative to MacDonalds on a slip road.

I find Dennys is best for breakfast and lunch but no so good for dinner. We like to have a big breakfst in Dennys before setting off for one of the parks, that way we don't have to eat until the early evening and avoid some of the rubbish served in the parks.

Hi Jacqui,

We find the Ponderosa is good for all you can eat breakfast. We normally have a late breakfast and if you hang around long enough they start serving the lunch menu, this is usually around 11.30. I wonder if they would notice if I stayed for the evening menu as well!!!

Not bad food considering it is mass produced. Mind you I don't know if I like the idea of the kids have ice cream for breakfast.

I've often thought about going for breakfast at one of these all you can eat places and staying for lunch and dinner. Brilliant if you were down on your luck and only had a few bob to spend. You could eat well that day. Guess you'd have to hide in the loos between courses, taking your plate with you as you'd have nothing to put your grub on otherwise. Mind you, after breakfast and lunch would you be able to fit into a cubicle to hid until dinner!! The mind boggles.

Hi Jacqui,

You don't need to take your plate with you they are left on the side so you can just get a clean one each time.

Food is OK not 5 star though. Before having our own villa we used to go to Ponderosa on the day of departure. Get there about 10 ish stay until midday then make our way to Sanford airport. That kept you going until your meal on the plane.

<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>Hello there. Just wanted to add my two penny worth to the breakfast debate. My wife, Teresa and I (Ken) agree with the comments about Denny's, not bad for breakfast and even lunch, but not too great for dinner.
Now, if you want a geat meal (even for those "all you can eat" places, try one of the "Golden Coral" places.
There's one on International Drive at the corner of Sand Lake Road, one on the 192 near Target and a newly opened one at Lake Buena Vista.
Good value and good food.
Even I couldn't manage to work my way through Breakfast, Lunch and dinner!
Best wishes.
Ken

We tried the Denny's near Universal last year. The server was extremely rude and the food when it eventually arrived was not good. Have been told about better Denny's though and will give one of them a try.

I have read this thread with great intrigue!! I have no issue with any Denny's we have popped in to, and although John is a real burger bunny, I am NOT, funnily enough this was one of the reasons we started going there for some meals!! I go purely for the grilled chicken breast with baked potatoe and vegetables!! I fully accept it is a diner, to be fair, it is a No Fuss enviroment, but if I had to choose between having a Florida holiday every year for the past 14 years or going once or twice, but at times eating a little more economically, I know what choice I would have made!! In fact we did!! I would not dismiss Denny's as a place to eat, that is for sure:)

We used Dennys quite a lot a few years ago but have had a few recent bad experiences. Long wait times, bad service and messy tables.

I think it's gone a bit downhill in the past year or so but because we liked it so much in the past I would still be prepared to give it another go.

There's always a different side to the story, our last expierience of ponderosa was yuck, 4 out of the 5 entrees we ordered were not cooked. But Denny's (the one on the corner of sandlake road and john young, opposite the bealls store) is great for lunch, always nice staff and good grub.I do like their meat skillet.

A US holiday is not the same without a trip to Denny's for breakfast!!

We used to go to Denny's for breakfast a few years ago but don't really go anymore. Main reason I think was we got bored with it and the food started to taste a bit bland[msnscared]

My favourite for breakfast is Market St Cafe at Celebration sitting outside overlooking the lake eating a lovely omlette[msnwink]

Yep, we love Denny's. Southern Friiiiieeed potatoes. yee haaaaaw.:D

I do think Denny's is better for brekkies than lunch or dinner though.

Perkins is better for Dinner if you're looking for something less expensive or on the hoof.
