Islamorada??? how far from Orlando???

Found a great house in Islamorada... how far is this forom Orlando and which is the best route down the east or west coast? Any info will be welcome

Islamorada is in the Middle Keys, at the center of the Florida Keys, and my guess is that it would be a 5 hour drive if you drove straight there (which I would not recommend).

Best route from (or to) Orlando is via the Floridas Turnpike which is a wide, relatively quiet road which by-passes the Miami area and ends at Homestead where US1 feeds onto the Keys.

We have split our journey in the past with overnight stops at Ft. Lauderdale or South Beach, Miami.

If you are thinking of renting that house for just a few days - best check that it is available (legally) for such a short period. The Keys (Monroe County) have some very funny restrictions on short term rentals with minimum stays of 1 month often being enforced in residential areas
