Hi,
We are thinking of going over to shell island for a day. Has anybody been there before, also are there any good places to stay for 1 night.?[beer]

Well, as it happens we went anyway. You catch a shuttle boat from pass-a-grille St.Petes. We spent a whole day on the island and apart from the few others that also caught the boat we didn't see another soul. Found some lovely shells and even saw dolphins on the way back. Absolutely brilliant.
Will definitely be back there next Oct 07

Hi Millie,
Shell island is a small barrier island which is a nature reserve. There are no facilities of any kind on the island, so you need to make sure you take plenty of drinking water and any food that you think you need. As you are restricted to the beach around the island there is no shade and you need to take a sunshade with you. It is a very relaxing day trip after the hectic parks to chill out. From memory the boat takes about 12 people and the journey time about 1/2 hour.
But if you DM us we will send you the link all about the island.
