For regular visitors to the Port Charlotte area you will be pleased to hear that Fishermen's Village, Punta Gorda only had limited damage from Hurricane Charley and many shops are reopening on October 1st.

If you don't already know it it is a great place for harborside shopping, dining and watching the sunset.

I'm ghlad to hear the place survived as I had read somewhere that it had been destroyed. I once spent a week there in a timeshare and had an apartment with a lovley view of the marina. Lovely that was until we had a bit of a storm and then the sight of the boats there going up and down had me feeling really seasick[xx(]

The kids had a laser pen and spent many an evening hiding on our balcany shining it down on the guests perusing the shops below. They shone it on the back of some bald man's head and the wife was frantically whacking him round the head trying to get it off. A cat also went crazy trying to get it:D:DIt was the cheapest form of entertainment on that trip and still gets talked about some 6 years later.

It's amazing how the cheapest entertainment often gets remembered Jacqui. We had a similar apartment and fifteen years later our children still remember the fisherman who taught them to fish and feeding their catch to the pelicans!

Nice to hear Maureen, we drove past Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte 6 days after Charley, it was still a sad sight.

Thanks Mo - as you know I am off on 3rd and really wanting to see Fishermens Village. Glad to know things are getting back to normal -just wondering about Jeanne now!
