Hi all,

just wondering if anybody could recommend the best places in Orlando to go for discounted DVD's and books.

Does anyone know if the borders books store is still across from the Florida mall?

TIA

We like Walden Books which is on the 192, on the same side and not that far from Hooters, but they only sell books and not DVDs.

Don't remember Borders book store but Barnes & Noble is opposite Florida Mall (not discount but they do great coffee and Cheesecake Factory cheesecake!).

Wal-Mart, of course, do discount DVDs (as do places like Target, etc) so have a rummage in those bins they have in the aisles. Blockbuster and other video stores often sell off pre-rented DVDs which are nevertheless in good condition.

I checked out the DVDs in Wal Mart and while they were cheaper than the usual UK store prices, you cannot beat on-line bargains like the PLAY sites for both R1 and R2 DVDs.

We did find a shop in the Florida Mall that sold books quite cheap, but DVD's, well we tend
to get ours on the net as its cheaper.

Borders were still opposite the Florida Mall earlier this year.

Books:- try the libraries [:p], but they also have a clear out from time to time. We picked up about dozen thrillers etc (hardback) for 50 cents apiece.

DVD'd:- Virgin megastore at disney downtown have some good offers.

We found that new releases were cheaper at Costco by $1 to $2. Walmart were the next cheapest. Also circuit city near to Florida mall do some good deals on older DVD's (Stuff released 3 or 4 months ago) or box sets. You will expect to pay about $18 for a new release and you can get alot for under $10.

If you can get membership (I managed to on the basis that I was buying a villa) then "Sams Club" is the cheapest (though they only have a small selection which tend to be the latest releases)

They are also great for stocking up on food at the start of your holiday (if you are self catering)

They have a "dotcom" at SamsClub.
