It was a good visit before when we visited but now they're building a new one that's apparently even better! 116 acres of animals, learning areas, natural habitats - this place has got it all! Big (and small) cats, elephants, birds, herpetarium, apes, sea lions, etc. Also includes a new cafe, water feature and welcome center.

At 3755 Highway 17/92 at exit 104 of the I4 at Sanford (map and directions here) http://www.centralfloridazoo.org/directions.htm If you've got a late flight from Sanford, this would be a good place to spend some time before your flight check-in time.
