Near Tampa and pronounced ee-bore (in case you were wondering!), this is a redbrick and clapboard Latin quarter. Cuban influenced but lots of other nationalities too. Used to be the cigar capital until Havana (Cuba) took over.

Try the Samba Room (813 254 5870) for a mojito (rum, mint and lime) and the Cuban blue plate special, shredded beef, rice, black beans and sweet plantains!

Also, lots of bars, clubs and live music venues. Get hand rolled cigars here or T-shirts and jeans from trendy stores.

Also visit the Ybor City State Museum which has an emphasis on the history of cigar production and includes three reconstructed cigar workers houses from around the turn of the century. There are also ornamental gardens. Open Tues-Sat.
