All home communities have specific days for the garbage/dust bins to be emptied. Because the collection truck comes around normally early in the morning, you need to make sure your bin is out by the road side the night before, otherwise you will miss the collection.

When your bin has been emptied, please return it as soon as possible in the garage as some communities fine owners for having bins left out!

Most owners have info about what to do with bins and their contents in their home books or in the info pack they may send to you. Just remember to put everything in a plastic bag and tie the top tightly so that you avoid any smells or the risk of pests - it's hot in the garage!

If you spray around the bags with clorox it keeps the animls and birds away.

If you are in a home in Polk county ( as are all the homes on highway 27), they have a very strictly enforced garbage code for short term rental properies and the villa owner can be heavily fined if this is not followed. In Polk county, it is illegal to put out anything which is not in a sealed garbage container ( ie. no plastic bags or cardboard boxes may be put out at all), the bin should only be put out on the day of collection and must be returned to the garage as soon as possible, but by the evening of collection day at the very latest. This law does make sense as it is intended to preserve the clean and tidy appearance of the estates and to discourage pests and wildlife which might forage amongst black plastic bags strewing litter about. Instructions on how to properly dispose of garbage to keep within the law should be displayed in any well managed house.
