Is it just me or is everything taking a long time to load this morning?

I am on normal £15 per month package - no broadband (gasp! shock!) and really think it's time to upgrade - EVERYTHING is slow at the moment.

It isn't the site, it really is the traffic on the net and if you haven't got broadband, it is horrendous some evenings particularly.

I reckon that all the cheapy monthly packages are making it slower just so you'll upgrade - is that a bit cynical????

I asked John about this yesterday and apparently hackers have attempted to attack the server but it's being fixed. It is much better this morning (for me anyway!). <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jane - I'm on a dial up modem unlimited package too (£13.49 a month with Virgin) and normally don't experience any problems at all with the speed of downloading anything, no matter what time of day. Perhaps it's just your provider?

I think it is - btopenworld! I'm on freeserve at work and it's far faster and cheaper - must look into all options available.

It's slow for me today as well and we're not yet on broadband although looking at very seriously.

However, it does keep chucking me out of forums saying I am not logged in. Beats me how you can go from one page of a topic to another and then suddenly not be signed in. Hey-ho!

Getting chucked out of forums because you're told you're not logged in is to do with cookies and the size of your cache.

If you're using IE go to Tools, Internet Options and then Settings where you can change your choices. If you're in Netscape, go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced Offline and Disk Space.

I've increased the size of space - is that going to sort it out then?

Hopefully! At least, it means that you should get longer before the log in message pops up again but it will eventually run out of space, clear itself and do it.

We've just recently got Pipex broadband and they were having big problems with the lines on Sunday. It was down for practically the whole day. Still, now it's working again, what a difference. Especially since I'm so impatient and can't wait for things to download.
