View Full Version : bag situation
This is probably a typical girl question to ask, but is ok to take a small bag with you when walking round the parks. I was just worried it would get in the way when going on the rides etc and wouldnt like to leave it on the side?? But I would need one to carry camera and money etc.
What have other people done??
There is no problems with bags in the parks, as long as you are willing to have it searched om entry.

Take one which is easy to carry as they become cumbersome! I known it is a bit naff these days, but something like a bumbag or a small shoulder bag. I let Mr CDV carry the rucksack with all our stuff in it....ok my stuff!!There are lockers to.
Many Thanks for your reply
What do you do with a bag when you are on the rides though???

Give them to my husband!!! He won't go on the rides..... I hold the bags for the rides he wants to go on, as they don't interest me - perfect partnership! :D

I agree that a bumbag or "fanny pack" as the Americans call them is the best idea, ok so they're not the height of fashion ( but probably considered fashionable in the parks as everone has them!!) but mine fits my money, passport, camera and a small tube of sun lotion. You don't need to remove them on the rides, if there is a lap bar they sit easily over the top.
sounds like a match made in heaven.
Unfortunatley its only me and my boyfriend going, and we will both be on the rides.....other people must take bags with them so im sure we will manage some how
I don't bother with a bag anymore. My husband has money etc. in his wallet, and anything else in his pocket!!! We always travel light to the Parks :D:D:D The only thing that we carry is our bottle of water.

I have a small back pack that we use for cameras, water etc. On most rides I just put it on the floor with my foot through the strap, but I would recommed putting your bag inside a plastic carrier bag if you go onto any water rides, the last think you want is a wet camera. We also have a bigger back pack that we put in a luggage locker, in this we usuall have more water, dry socks & underwear because if you go on the water rides you get soaked and walking around in wet pants and socks isn't very nice - believe me! We usually have fruit and snacks too and just go back to the locker at lunch time. Normally we just take it in turns to carry the back pack and dont really find it a problem. All the parks have lockers so if you do find you get fed up carrying things around its easy enough to store it away in a locker. Have fun! :D:D

I actually let hubby carry a small rucksack round the parks:):D[8D]No problem on rides at all!![msntongue][msnwink]Can't think of any in Disney that are a problem?
Universal has slightly more knuckle rides, do they accommodate bags on each one guys[?]

I take a gym bag with me the kind with the string straps. I either sling it in a locker before I get on a ride or just put it on the floor of the ride. If it is a fast one just make sure it is done up tight and wrapped around your foot, No problem:D

We always take a small backpack or knapsack and put all our stuff in there. No problem taking it on the rides.
This year I do want to try and be frugal with my bag - I am a 35mm photographer [msnscared] and as such, tend to carry copious amount of kit around with me........ This year, I am buying a new digital camera, and I am trying to persuade myself that I won't need the 35mm one, as long as I can find a digi cam with decent zoom capabilities........... If I manage to travel without it, then I have every intention of only taking a small bag with me! I want to try and get hubby to go on some of the rides this time! I don't carry much apart from the credit cards, money, and tickets, and hubby carries the sun cream and water in a backpack. But, there are 5 of us, so we do tend to carry quite a bit!
For camera users, it's worth looking for some thick ziplok bags. These can be purchased from places such as Lakeland etc. You can zip any valuables into them for the water rides.......
I took my bag some days and on other we took a rucksack -hubby carried!
He said it was great the days we didn't take it.

We took a small rucksack type bag with water, small bottle of suncream, fruit etc in. The big rides at Universal all have free lockers next to them as you cant take any bags on them at all. Disney, Busch gardens and Sea World make a small charge, (I think it was 50 cents to use their lockers next to the big coasters.) Hope this helps.

Karen takes a bag that has a diagonal strap which means the bag is always in front of you (its meant to be worn at the back i think (not really into bags myself)). I dont know if Disney has a problem with pickpockets or the like, or any florida area for that matter, but this bag is a great precaution just in case, why make it easy for them.
It also means her handa are free and the bag is never in the way on rides.
That being said, the lockers are great, very handy for just dumping all your stuff and running around the park. The lockers at universal are great, they work with fingerprint technology and only open when you have scanned your fingerprint. Very hi-tech.

Years ago we used to take everything but the kitchen sink to the parks and the year we never took the plastic macs it rained! We used to take a pushchair with us to put everything on, and it came in handy when the kids got a bit tired as they were still little. however, now i travel a little lighter and have a backpack and we take turns carrying it. the money goes in a bum bag. we have had no problems going on the rides with a back pack.
