Infant Seat on American Airlines

We have guests booked on AA flight with a 21 month old. AA say

Do you have any documentation that came with it? Is there a label sewn in which gives you any info? Or you could contact the place where you bought it and ask? Presumably, you'd need some documentation of some sort to convince AA that it's certified for aircraft use anyway.

We used AA this year and took a Britax Freeway excel. This seat is recommended for aircraft seats. AA never once checked it to see if it was appoved even though it was.
