Oh dear - I'll be posting lots of questions on here as the countdown begins!! I know I've been once but I didn't have the experience of this site then!!

Anyway, question is - Breakfast - Where is best for a cheap and reasonably filling brekkie? We used Ponderosa quite a lot on our last visit, and it wasn't bad, well for the money! We also tried Sizzlers on our last day, and that was better than Ponderosa's, so unless there are any other ideas from here, we will probably frequent Sizzlers, and the occasional breakfast at our condo...... (Prefer to eat out though!)
Thanks!

IHOP do good breakfasts (although they're not the buffet type). If you're eating in, don't forget to try some of the cereals that you can only get in the US for a change!

Everybody to their own but we like the Golden Coral for the large choice. It also very cheap (Look out for the coupons once you are in orlando). Perkins is good but always busy especially at weekends.

At Perkins they have some healthier options, like fat free muffins and reduced fat oatmeal. Healthier options for the children too.

Great!! At least we can now vary our breakfast habits......... I like a big brekkie, then we do go most of the day on drinks, and small snacks, and pig out again att night - Not the healthiest way of eating I know, but it's only for 2 weeks!

We will be based at Cypress Pointe nr Disney, I think Sizzlers is local, but are the others quite near? Thanks again!

I'm glad its not just me then John, I literally dream about Fl breakfasts for a good few weeks till we get there.

Funnily enough I never eat breakfast at home, but send me on holiday and I have to have my breakfast, even if I only lie by the pool all day. Would do without dinner, never bother with lunch, but brekkie is a must :D:D:D

[/quote]Denny's does senior discounts too so check the back of their menu! :) Most other eating places (including Ponderosa, etc) also do senior discounts but they don't always advertise them - ask! ;)

Always liked Ponderosa and Sizzler but that was until we discovered Golden Corrall. K mart do a nice breakfast if you are in there shopping!! their bacon is better than the buffet restaurants, although no american bacon resembles english bacon! Shoneys is quite nice for breakfast as you can pick off a menu or go for a buffet.

Well, we only need brekkie for 10 days, as we are going on trips for 4 of our 14 days, so we now have loads of choice - thank you everyone!! :D

linda,
For the odd treat, don't forget the Disney Character Breakfasts in the parks, not cheap - but very different. In 1980 we were in the MK on my wife's birthday and started the day off with breakfast in the big victorian conservatory restaurant. That started the day really well!! We have also had breakfast in Animal Kingdom.

Oh, we had a character breakfast included with our 10 day tickets last time we visited. It's our sons birthday on the 13th October, and we had a MGM breakfast on his birthday! He was thrilled. They gave him a cake, and had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday to him, he also got a card signed by all the characters! As he left, they gave him a balloon, and told him to carry it at all times. We didn't understand why until we were approached by every Disney team member, wishing him happy birthday, and making him feel really special. Shame it didn't last, as he let go of the balloon, and being helium, off it went! Still, he had fun whilst it lasted! I am going to pop on another topic about birthday celebrations for kids, as it will be his birthday again when we go this year!

this may sound stupid but do they have set breakfast times in the disney hotels and restaurants like IHOP and golden corral say 8 till 10am as i'm a bit of a late riser :D and have to forceably get myself up especially if it was a good night!

although i'm driving the misses mad with telling her my plans, she thinks we will go to bed at 3am and get up for the parks at 7 lol.

Just wandering off the subject of food slightly, if anyone in your party has a birthday, go to guest services when entering any Disney park and they give you a HUGE "it's my birthday" badge to wear. You are then guaranteed to get lots of birthday wishes off Cast Members - Sarah even had the ferry Captain on the ride back from the Magic Kingdom wish her Happy Birthday over the loudspeaker system and was delighted [msnsmile2]

For buffet the Golden Corral gets my vote too. As well as the the made to order ommelettes they will also cook you a fresh egg - at most buffets you're stuck with scrambled or a really rock solid poached egg.
For made to order the eggs benedict at IHOP is very good.

Cracker Barrel without a doubt! We ate there nearly every day for breakfast. It's great value and you have a massive choice. It's not buffet style but it's very clean and the food is fantastic.

Sorry, I'm not a fan of buffet style breakfasts and I freak out when I see dirty cutlery!!

Have a great holiday [msnsmile]

I find the service in Dennys, IHOP etc to be a bit lacking. We walked out of two IHOPS after being left sitting for ages. Dennys breakfast are cheap and cheerful but I find it dead smokey..kitchen smells etc. Ponderosa gave me food poisoning after a breakfast buffet! There is always McD OR BK to. We like Croissants and that sort of brekkie, light, hard to find as everyone seems to have a sweet tooth!
Need to have a look at the other places mentioned as it is something we have not mastered yet a decent breakfast whilst eating out.

After reading all the above could just eat a Denny's breakfast, nice crispy bacon with 2 eggs over easy and a few Hash browns. Another great place for breakfast is Cracker Barrel, my grandchildren love it, especially the apple sauce. Sizzlers, Dennys, Cracker Barrel all our favourites

IHOP and Perkins for me!! Although I agree service in some IHOP's is poor, I have walked out of a couple too.

Apart from these "chain restaurants" though there are some wonderful local breakfast places to be found. We've been in some really good ones on out trips down the Gulf Coast.
