Hi. We are going to Floriday in October 2010. It is my daughter's 13th birthday the day after we arrive and I would like to get her a birthday cake. Has anyone any suggestions as to where I should get it? Would I have to order in advance from the UK? Any help would be gratefully received. Diane.

Any Walmart will have a very wide range of birthday cakes-I think you'd only need to order in advance if you wanted it personalizing

And publix have a good selection. You can probably get her name added instantly or just buy a tub of decorating icing from the cake baking section and add it yourself if you want.

If you want something a little different as you are in Florida, one of them I think it is Publix has ice cream birthday cakes in the freezer. As the name implies it looks exactly as a birthday cake but has ice cream instead of buttercream. (We find their cream a bit sickly, and if there aren't too many of you going it will last longer in the freezer than the cake may do once cut.

You can get fabulous ice cream ones in Friendlys (on the 192) or any Dairy Queen. Both have some in stock but for a wider choice, then order in advance.

Sorry both typing at the same time. What I would suggest as well is , if you are going anywhere special (Discovery COve or special restaurant) many of those places have cakes available.

Have a look at the cake selection on the Publix website, they have some wonderful cakes that you can pre-order.

I had a cake from Publix for my birthday and thoroughly recommend them. The only problems is there are lots to choose from.

My family bought a cake from Wal Mart for my 60th. They chose one at the counter and they had "Happy 60th Birthday" written on it while they waited. It was a sponge cake and tasted lovely.

We often visit our villa in October when it's my husbands birthday, we always celebrate with an ice cream cake from Publix - you can't beat them.

Depending on where you are in Kissimmee there may not be aPublix, but ALbertsons have wondefrul cakes too.
I am sure that if you book a meal in one of the Disney PArks and mention before hand that there is a birthday girl in the party, a cake will 'mysteriously' appear and perhaps a group to play or sing THE song.
(good forward planning by the way

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. There is a Publix quite near where we will be staying and I have checked out their website - it all looks great. Diane.
