We are travelling to Sanford in a couple of weeks. Later the same day, we then have to pick up another member of our party at Orlando International. I have been looking at the options we have for parking the car while waiting for her arrival. As I see it .........

We can park in the cell phone lot, where we await a call / text from the arriving passanger, then pick her up from outside the terminal. My only doubt about this is whether the phones work OK !

We can park in the sattelite parking area then take a shuttle bus to the terminal and meet up there.

We can park in the terminal garage parking area on level 3 (?) of the terminal itself, then find our way down to level 1 or 2 to meet up.

I would appreciate any advice or guidance anyone who has picked up friends or family at MCO can provide. What might be the best or easiest option ? I understand that the charges for each of these car parks vary, but that isn't an issue. I am just looking for the simplest solution as I am not too familiar with MCO.

Any help would be most welcome. Thanks.

Paul

We've picked someone up by waiting in the cell phone lot. This does depend on your arriving person having some change for a phone or a working US or UK cell phone of their own though.

We got our person to phone us when they'd cleared Immigration, Customs, etc and had collected their luggage. We got them to wait at the kerbside for the few minutes it took to drive from the parking lot into the Arrivals part of the terminal and they were looking out for us.

Really easy and, best of all, apart from the phone call it's FREE!

At the Cell Phone Lot there is large screen with the flight details - pretend you are in a Drive-In Cinema!!

Depending on whether they have to go through Immigration and Customs at MCO in which case allow about an hour, if they have alread cleared these obstacles somewhere else it could be about 20 minutes.

You may have to drive round and round a couple of times but I would have thought Cell Phone Lot your best, and cheapest, bet.

Hi Paul, if you and your party member have a tri-band cell phone then there should be no problem to use the cell phone lot option.

This works extremely well, and there is no charge to park while you are waiting.

The instruction to the person you are picking up should be to go down ONE floor to the baggage claim/drop off area, and wait for you at the kerb side.

When they phone you then, make sure they know what terminal (A or B) they are in, so they can tell you and all you then have to do is to leave the cell phone lot, drive to DEPARTURES at the appropriate terminal, and collect them from the kerb side.

The cell phone lot is probably no more than 5 minutes from the terminals.

Hope this helps!

The easiest way it to go in the car park.
Jump in the elavator go to sub level.
Walk under the road in the tunnel(moving walkway).
Go on the escalator and go either to meet them in the departure/arrivals area, or,
Go to baggage claim and wait for them to meet you there.
My tip, tell your party not to put the case on the conveyor after customs, but to take it with them on the monorail.
If they do that just meet them in the Departures /Arrival area.
Then back in the elavator to sub level.
Cross under road again in tunnel.
Back in Elevator to car park level.
Drive out onto road.
Cost approx $5 dependant on length of stay.

I would go to the parking at the airport. You can always grab a coffee whilst you wait and doesn't cost more than a couple of dollars.

It would be my luck to have a dead battery in my phone so would rather go with the carpark as opposed to the parkling lot. Either one is easy anyway.

If you can time it right I think parking is free for the first 45 mins, well it was using our sunpass.

Thank you for all the advice folks. It is much appreciated.

I don't think there is a question about Florida vacations that you can't find or get the answer to on these forums.
