| Also if you spend on a Virgin AMEX card you will get air miles for every pound you spend The points you get are dependent on the card you have, eg 1 mile per £1 on one card or 2 mile per £1 spend on the other card. Plus they always seem to have offers. | mike |

| | You also get reward flights with the Virgin Amex, either a companion fare or the 2 I got for the first time a few weeks ago which was an Econ>Premuim upgrade. I used 100000 airmiles for 2 economy tkts and then paid £566 (for 2 people) to upgrade to PE. | Paul

Oh what a shame - they were advertising upgrades for £169 each from Manchester check-in when we travelled last. | blott www.orlandovillas.com/villas/150.aspx

| we finally used our miles for our trip next April!
We booked Prem Eco return and used 7500 miles per person + £720 - which was £190 cheaper then the advertised rate.
The Economy miles + money fare was the same as the advertsied regular fare.
It seems you only get a good deal when you upgrade IMHO! | Caz |

| | I've tried a few times to use the airmiles but without much success - couldn't get the dates, or the cost of miles plus money was more than the cost just using cash. I upgraded my father-in-law from Economy to Upper Class on the return journey this summer and it cost 30,000 miles, and I'm not sure if it was a bargain or not. | Tonish |

Can't understand that, we got 2 free flights in economy for 32500 points each and i think it was just short of £400 for taxes | Roger.

It all depends on what your acutally doing and what class the seat is. Currently its only 25000 each for an economy seat.
We flew PE which means its a different class of ticket (i.e a dearer economy seat) to upgrade to PE. in the end they took 45000miles for each ticket. Not that worried as I still have 173000 miles. | Paul

| I've tried to book LGW-MCO (for 25,000 miles each) for the dates I wanted, checked I could get the time off work and the flights have gone. The 25,000 is only from London and when you add the travelling time, I'm thinking of just paying the 50,000 from Manchester.
We've used miles plus money a few times which works well.
Personally, I prefer the Airmiles programme as this includes taxes. Virgin is £180 per person plus your miles. | Mark http://www.orlandovillas.com/florida-vacation-rental-1489.aspx |

| | We've booked 2 trips using the 25,000 miles one for later this year and 1 for next Easter so was quite a good deal at £180 each. Am going to write to Virgin as well and say that when we have used our miles we will perhaps be looking to change to Airmiles because of the taxes situation. Don't suppose it will help , will probably just get a response saying thats why BA are losing money and have some difficult decisions to make whereas Virgin made a profit. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

Although 'Airmiles' is a subsidiary of BA, it isn't really a frequent flyer programme at all. The most significant difference is that you can't accumulate them by flying!
BA's programme is actually 'BA Miles' through their Executive Club and the charges and taxes for their award tickets are pretty steep. I've just booked 2 First Class flights to the US and had to pay almost £700 in charges. | Edited by - Katys Grandad on 26 Jun 2009 15:29:42 |

if you go shopping on the virgin atlantic link to shops . you can also build up points .
not sure if these points earned are 100% valid when you build them up. tried buying seats without points some were available . but when you use points and cash some flights not available . |
