Hi,

Could someone please tell me how many suitcases each person is allowed? Is every airline different?

Claire

Hi Claire,

Yes, each airlne is different. It should have this information on the airline website.
We usually fly with Virgin and are allowed 2 x cases of 23kg per person. This is one of the reasons we fly with them to Florida
Don't think I could ever go back to just 1 case of 20kg

Most of the charter airlines now restrict you to one item of hold luggage weighing 15kg.

Hi
Same here, we always fly scheduled, one of the reasons is the baggage allowance is far more generous.

We returned from Orlando at the end of May.
Our flights were with Delta and we were allowed 2 suitcases each weighing up to 22.5kgs per case.
We were also allowed up to 18kg carry on baggage each.
In total we were allowed 63kgs !

You will have to look at each airline to see their allowances, but I know the charter flights we looked at were much lower.
We all used our full entiltement after many shopping trips to the malls and stores !!!!

The number of cases to & from the US is regulated and the min is not an airline option; from memory you are allowed 2 cases in the hold per person, the weight has been dropped recently for safety reasons. The carry on baggage is not regulated and can vary by airline and airport, I've recently been taking 2 carry on bags from T5!

It is always woth checking the airlines baggage allownace before booking if it is an issue..

The allowance for scheduled airlines in economy is two pieces, though the weight can vary slightly, but charters have their own rules, usually one one bag. BA were great on my last trip. One of mine was 27.8kg and they didn't even want me to repack, I did offer!
You should check your airlines website

Thanks for your help everyone, I'm flying with Thomas Cook and I think my baggage is restricted to 20kg, which isn't very good compared to some other airlines.

I would check this if I were you, Claire, as my son flew with them last week and it was one suitcase weighing only 15kg. You could pay extra to increase this.

I think sometimes they resstrict the luggage allowance further to 15kg if it is a last minute discounted flight.
