thanks Nina
not sure Lauren would like that one.....not to keen at being the centre of attention we thought the birthday package was pushing it a bit but hey.....she will be 13 just once and we want her to remember this birthday as a special one......we didnt get treated like this when we were 13, obviously times were different then... we also feel a bit sad for her as our other kids have been busy building their lives and relationships and new babies coming along shes been pushed out luckily we sensed this early so trying to do lots of things with her so she feels as special as the new babies are to the older sisters.....
am hoping to book this sometime today!! thanks everyone xx

Liesa, trainer for the day wouldn't make her the centre of attention, it's a behind the scenes visit, plus you get a lot more private time with the dolphins. If you told the trainers it was her birthday they would take your cue as to how much attention she wanted. She'd be far more the centre of attention with a birthday package. Whatever you decide I'm sure she'll love it and it's something the whole family and her friend can share in too.

I'd definitely recommend water shoes (buy them in Walmart for around $5). We went in August and hubby and I had some with us but our daughter who was 15 (it was her birthday treat) didnt and we ended up buying some DC ones for aroound $15 because the concrete got too hot to walk on comfortably. They are a good investment if you go to the beach as well as we went to one near Indian rocks one time that were having trouble with stingrays and said you should wear them or shuffle your feet in the shallow water to avoid accidentally getting caught on a barb, so make sure we always take them with us now whenver going to any beach.
We didnt do the birthday package so didnt know they gave you waterproof cameras for that but we took our own with us.

I hope your daughter has a great birthday, what a great 13th! You go the day before we do, we're going for my 40th although it isn't actually on that day. Do you need the shoes in the water or just to walk around in? The girls want crocs which won't be suitable for swimming in but don't really want to buy 5 lots of other water shoes!

We wore them in the water as some of the rocks can be sharp, also walked round in them.

The water shoes get difficult to get come August/September at Walmart. I couldn't get any last year anywhere as we use them at home for walking on the beach. I have just got them now from Walmart. You can buy them at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon so I guess that Discovery Cove will have them also. Slightly more expensive than Walmart though, theirs were under $5.

We had the birthday package for our daughters 16th birthday last July. We did not tell her we were going to DC and made an invitation for her on the computer before we left the UK and wrapped it up like a present. We had to wake her up very early on her birthday so that we could get to DC nice and early. We also kept the birthday package a surprise. My husband did the dolphin swim with her while my son and myself stood on the edge and took photos and video.During the swim a dolphin swam up to her and gave her a plastic bouy with her name and Happy Birthday from DC written on it. Her face was a picture. We were then asked to go back to the restaurant after we had lunch at a specified time. The table was laid out with special plates and our names. After a few minutes the band started to play Happpy Birthday and a server brought out a beautiful cake which again had her name on it. We ate a slice each and then the rest was put in a box and left at the exit for us to take home.

It really was a very special day.
