Hello,
We're going to Florida next week (24/05) and we still haven't decided whether we are going to hire a car or not but after finding this website, I think we might.
My only concern is that, although we live in the UK, both my husband and I hold French driving licenses. Do you think that is going to be an problem when picking up the car?
Thanks
Celine

I wouldnt think it would be a problem but the car hire sites hsould have the license requirements. Roger will probably be around soon so should be able to advise.
I do know I have a French guest who has stayed with me twice now and hired a car on both occasions but dont kno if she has some sort of International drivers permit as well.
I think you'll find you will have a much better holiday experience with a car as you are much more restricted without if you just want ot go somewhere different or even for eating etc you dont want to have to be tied to timetables imo.

Any license other then USA or Canadian is fine (except with Budget where US and Canadian is OK too). Strictly speaking, your license should be printed in the English language. If not, we recommend obtaining an International license from your licensing authority in the country that issued your license, to avoid any problems when collecting your car.

Thank you for your quick answers. I saw the bits in your FAQs about the license being printed in the English language but because we left it so late, there is no way we could get an international license now.
So really, I was wondering whether anybody had been in the same situation before. I don't want to book a car and then be told that we can't have it because my license is not in English.

I know many European customers have successfully collected with non-English printed licenses, and to date have not heard of any with a problem. However, this really is a risk, as if you are denied a car on that basis, there is no refund or cause for complaint, so I understand your concerns.
