My family and I will be traveling to Florida in June and I have been looking at hire cars. There will be 4 adults and 2 children (6 and 8). i have looked through a number of posts on here about the size of the boot/trunk on the Dodge Durango, etc. When I looked on the Dodge website it showed that the 3rd row of seats split 60/40 (as an option). This would be ideal as I could have one half of the rear seat down for the trip to and from the villa. Does anyone know if Alamo/Dollar/Budget use Durangos with the 60/40 folding rear seat?

Also anyone traveled in a Durango with 3 suitcases and hand luggage - would it all fit? Or is it better to go for the HUGE 8 seater SUV?

Many Thanks

We had a Durango last time we went. We are two adults and 4 children and you have to move the middle seats forwards to get into the rear, much like a two door car over here. We had trouble with our two big samsonite suitcases and on the second week got so fed up with children arguing over seats that we got a Grand Voyager instead, plenty of room for cases, sliding doors so kids didn't open them on other peoples cars in the car parks and no seat moving!! You can always go and see these at a Chrysler dealer before you go too. If not just book one and pick when you land....if you've not got tiny kids that will be tired.

Oh decisions, decisions. Our children are small (6 and 8) so the rear seat won't be too much of a problem. They also seem to get a burst if energy when we land - probably the excitement.

I take that the 7 seat Durangos are in a 2x2x3 configuration with a bench seat for the 3rd row - would be great if that had a 60/40 capability. You only actually need the luggage space for 2 journeys - to the airport and from the airport.....

We travel in June on a Saturday - what do you think Alamos parking lot will be like?

Is the Chrysler Aspen bigger than the Dodge Durango?
