| Hi We paid 278.00 with American Airlines April 2007 Manchester to Miami via Chicago (I think) This year in May we paid 358.00 with Delta Manchester to MCO via Atlanta. We are finding the 1 stop flights a bit tiring now. I understand its the fuel prices that increase the flight prices.
Can anyone explain the open skies policy, Has it started yet? I thought it meant there would be more transatlantic flights, and would start a price war. Ellie

The problem being that we would prefer to go for 21 days and to get to London from Glasgow we either have to get a flight down to London, with the chance of missing the flight we need to Florida, or we could fly to London the day before but that then incurs an overnight stay somewhere.......thats the problem! | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| Pamela - I was actually replying to Katy's Grandad's post one up from you. Anyway you could drive to Manchester (can't be more than 3 hours from Glasgow can it ?) and depart MAN - ORL 3rd Oct for 3 weeks with United £497 pp all in. Still doesn't sound too bad to me or am I missing something ? | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

To clarify, I'm just pointing out that the fares are much higher for October & November this year than in previous years. I reckon I flew around 6 transatlantic returns in Oct/Nov in 2006 and 3 in the same months in 2007 and have never paid more than £400. In fact I have paid under £300 on occasions.
Individuals will have their own views on whether the fares are affordable but it's absolutely certain that they are substantially higher than they have been over recent years. Yesterday I booked 2 award flights with BA, LHR-MIA. The taxes and surcharges alone were £792. In March they were less than £500 for the same dates. | Edited by - Katys Grandad on 12 Jun 2008 03:59:17 | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

We vowed to never ever fly with them again, we used them for our first flight to Orlando and it could not have been worse....they delayed us for 4 hours going from Iceland to Orlando with no explanation, just kept saying 'no speak English' when asked! The flight out had the same 'entertainment' going out as it was coming back (10 year old film!) The air con broke down on the way home and we spend about 5 hours sweltering in the heat, all of us came down with the cold when we came home...may not have been related. The plane was falling apart including broken trays and finally the foods was vile and the stewardess's were the most ignorant ever!
