Just back from a day out, and part of this we went to Bok Towers down in Lake Wales. What a complete difference to the theme parks, so quite and peaceful. It's part conservation area for Florida Flora/Fauna and a historic carillon tower. (Tower with bells that are played via a keyboard).

We arrived in time for a 1pm concert, which lasted about 30 minutes. Some of the tunes sounded a bit strange, but they did play a Bach fugue, which was an absolute delight.

A nice slow stroll around a 3/4 mile nature trail was an added bonus, but if anyone else should do this at this time of year, take plenty of water.

A lovely 3 hours away from the hurly burley of the theme parks. All for $10 per person.

Note that if traveling to this attraction from the Orlando area via US 27, the normal brown attraction sign to tell you to take a left turn has been taken down while they are upgrading the roads in this area. However, you need to take the left turn at the 2nd set of traffic lights after the Eagle Ridge Mall turn, onto Mountain Cut Off Road.

We went to Historic Bok Sanctuary for the first time this March and can't wait to go again. It was one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I've been to. I'm not a religious person but the place does have a palpable spiritual quality.

The gardens were stunning and the pink and grey carillion bell tower quite surreal, especially when the concert was on. It was like being in the middle of one of Thomas Kinkade's inspirational paintings!

The wildlife and especially the birds were amazing, especially from the 'Window by the Pond', a wildlife hide.

We were disappointed that we were unable to do the Pinewood Estate tour while we were there as the tours were all fully booked, another time we'll phone ahead to book.

Well worth a visit to recharge the batteries.

It is one our favourite places to go. So peaceful and quiet. We did the Pinewood Estate tour last time and the lady who did it was a bundle of energy, despite being at least 78 years old.

I know Karen visited The Historic Bok Sanctuary with her family during her holiday over Easter, she also said it was a lovely place to visit and that they enjoyed their day there.

I will add it to our list of places to visit for one of our next trips

Indeed we did. It was about 11 years since our last visit and it is even more beautiful now. We went on the guided tour walk and it was really well worth while as we learnt a lot and it was included in the entrance fee.

Both my parents and my son also enjoyed it, so suitable for all ages

We went to Bok Tower a few years ago now but I remember it very well. We had a lovely day and would recommend a visit. I think it is about time we made another visit so roll on our next trip!

We saw the signpost for Bok Towers when we visited Cypress Gardens , and wondered if we should spend some time there . Next time we shall certainly go there ,it sounds like a really nice day out .
