| Thanks Frances. I go to the gym 3 times a week, but still struggle to loose weight I am trying the old cut out the fat from diet routine as it did work once before. I just had a ryvita with tomatoe, cucumber and prawns. Would have prefered low fat cheese as well, but cheese is my down fall as I do love it! | Karen

| Well, we shall miss those who are not participating any longer for reasons known to themselves. Thankfully this topic will continue as people come and leave. I have been "in & Out" of this thread for some time - reading, so I guess I shall have to be more active posting from now on.
In July I shall be taking part in the Race for Life in aid of cancer research. Far from fit I have to work at getting into shape = more excercise and a better diet.
First thing to be doing is cut out all the rubbish food and get regular eating patterns. | Linda

| Take a look at the Slimming World web site it's a really easy to follow plan and you never need to be hungry. You can download a 7 day menu to get you started if you like the look of it. Basically there are green and original days.
Good luck with however you choose to do it. I'm off to class now and hoping for a loss
Good luck with your Race for Life Linda I was thinking of doing this but that's as far as I got maybe next year as in Norwich it's taking place this weekend.quote: Originally posted by Fourdents Well, we shall miss those who are not participating any longer for reasons known to themselves. | I would like to join this thread if thats ok? Like Karen I have often read the other posts and like the idea of everyone encouraging each other. I'm 47 and my weight has only started to be a problem for me in the last couple of years (middle age spread?) Anyway I've got to the point where I am now DETERMINED to lose at least a stone and I need to acheive this by the time we go on our hols (23rd August) I look forward to joining in Margaret | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| I hope this is a useful bit of info ...
I've just swapped my gym membership, from being a member of Virgin Active to being a member of, errrrr, Virgin Active. However I'm now a member of Virgin Active through PruHealth, my healthcare insurance provider.
It works like this ... the usual membership costs are £40-ish a month (reasonably typical for a good gym). Through PruHealth, if I go on average twice a week or more, which I do, the cost drops to £5 a month. Yep! That's a fiver a month; or sixty quid a year. Amazing huh??!?
It gets better still ...
Each time I swipe in to the gym it allocates Vitality Points. They're a bit like Nectar points, or any other loyalty scheme I guess. At the end of the year, if I haven't claimed on the health insurance all these Vitality Points could translate to a cashback reward against the healthcover. The max is £350, and this isn't hugely more than the cost of the health cover. To me it works out pretty much as a free gym membership and a discount against health insurance. I get more, and pay less ... just for trying to stay healthy!
We also checked out Boots' health insurance and they do a similar scheme.
So anyone with health cover who also has a gym membership, do give your insurers a call and over a year it might save you about the equivalent of a flight to Florida!!!
So all that said, my target for the coming months must be to train more and get beyond 'Average' on the Concept 2 4-minute O'Neil Fitness Test.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how healthy, or un-healthy, are French bread pizzas? If you make them with baguette (is this healthy or un-healthy), pasta sauce (reasonably healthy), ham (pretty healthy) and cheese (ahem - OK - there has to be some concessions!!) | Steve.

| | Having been a shy and silent but dedicated follower of this thread for a long time I felt now was the time to join in and carry on the encouragement to all who are attempting to lose weight and be "good to themselves." The loss of the main contributors should not prevent all us other ladies (and gents) carrying on the good work that they started and I am sure that this thread will go from strength to strength. There already seems to be some new faces appearing so onwards and upwards. | Edited by - Twelvetree on 01 May 2008 20:14:30 | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| As I started this topic (originally called OV slimming club)http://www.orlando-guide.info/forums/topic_17136.asp I would hate to see an end to it.
Altough I have not been joining in for a while I would like to say that it was a great help to me having other people encourage me. I lost 1.5lb off 4 stone. Sadly a lot of it has gone back on again so maybe it's time to rejoin.
It's lovely to see some new names on here, so keep it up and I do following the thread even though I have not been taking part.

| It's great to see so many new people checking in.......welcome to you all.
I went to class last night and had a 2lb weight loss, total so far 22.5lbs. I am following SW and finding it so easy.
Someone in the group brought a syn free recipe for sweet and sour sauce which I had for my tea tonight and it was really yummy, I added quorn as I'm on a green day and I like plenty of rice.
It is free on both red and green days.
The recipe for anyone who is interested. 1 garlic clove 6 spring onions 1/2 red pepper 3oz fresh pineapple 1/2 pint of passata 4 floz white wine vinegar 2 tbsp light soy sauce 5 tbsp artificial sweetener Peel and crush the garlic, trim and finely chop the onions, deseed and finely chop red pepper and finely chop pineapple Add all in the pan together (apart from pineapple) with 3 floz water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and gently simmer for 12 - 15 mins until slightly reduced Remove from heat and add pineapple.
I added quorn pieces to it but in future I think I'll stick to lots of crispy vegetables, I like quorn mince but not too fussed on the texture of the pieces.
This was a much nicer sauce than any I've had out of a jar and it was almost as good as the local chippies.

| Wow, this thread looks as though it may have a new life after all. Thank you and welcome to all who have decided to post at last. I am sure we would appreciate some different points of view and help.
Sally, well done on your huge loss, and now maybe time to re-adjust and get back on track, as well as giving us some tips as to how you achieved your fantastic loss.
Patricia, Margaret and Steve, good to have you on board.

| Hi all, welcome to the newbies and welcome back the oldies! Steve I assume you are taking the proverbial?
One month today till my trip with the gals to Florida so need to get back into gear. Have been indulging myself post-op when I get tired in the afternoon and need to replace biscuits, cake and chocolates with fruit! And more walking - if it would stop persisting down every evening could get out with the younger dog on a regular basis which would improve things! | Fiona www.orlandovillas.com/Villas/148.aspx | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

Welcome back Sally and good luck for getting back on track.
Well done Paula on your loss and thanks for posting the recipe!
I lost 2 1bs last night so that's 26 1bs since rejoining SW in February and 32 1bs in total I'm feeling really pleased with myself at the moment as this is the best I have ever done on a diet. Got quite a few more stones to lose though so it's going to take a long time
