I've tried hot air balloon at home, Kent, and loved it. The best bit is to fly over an area you know / recognise. Anyone out there tried the hot air ballon in orlando area, does it go over or near the Disney / Universal parks ?
An early start, I'm sure, but do you recommend it ?

Tony

Tony you will find lots of photos using these links.
I'm not certain but I don't think you can go over the parks.

I don't know if we just had a bad day but I was quite dissappointed when we did it in 2005. Not only did we not go anywhere near the parks, we could still see the place where we took off from when we landed. The pilots tried their hardest by constantly changing the height and looking for the thermals, but the wind was none existent.
Shame really as Mrs Peg was really looking forward to it.
And you are right about the early start. We had to meet in a local hotel car park at about 5am.
Kenny

I'm pretty sure they would not be allowed to overfly the parks or get anywhere near them. They are much more likely to be flying in the rural or semi-rural areas around the villa communities.

Hi Tony,

I've done it in Kissimmee and it was brilliant. Will definitely be doing it again sometime. Regarding where you fly over, it depends on the time of year and wind direction. We flew in March and went from Kissimmee Old Town and landed in an orange grove Winter Haven way. I'll never forget the amazing smell of the orange blossom as we drifted over.

The thing that made the greatest impression on me is how much land is still undeveloped, we saw loads of wildlife too. We went over the top of Celebration which was fascinating from the air. It's a great experience wherever the flight takes you.

One tip is to book it for early in your stay, then if you can't fly due to weather conditions you'll be able to try again another day. We flew on our second visit to the launch site. You can book through here at http://www.park-tickets.com/hot-air-balloons.aspx

If you particularly want to see Disney from the air then a helicopter rather than a balloon flight will give you that certainty.

Enjoy

Nina

Just added FREE childs (10 and under) flight for each paying adult, which is a great deal.

We had an excellent flight last year (booked through Martin). It is an early start but by the time you have landed and get back to the meet point, you are ready for a hearty breakfast. You can't beat drifting through the air with only the sound of the burner going on and off and hearing the birds.

Now I know there are free child places, we might take our friends next trip.
