Other than that- clothes, shoes, trainers, walkie talkies, perfume and cosmetics, coffee, school supplies that are 'different', school bags,a guitar, lots of Xmas ornaments including a big set of musical disney bells, handbags, unusual table linen etc - I have never thought of buying cleaning stuff though [probably the last thing on my mind on hols LOL] I use WD40 to get sticky residue off, so wouldn't take up valuable clothes space with Goop :)
An Adirondack chair?! How did you fit that in a suitcase :)
Hi Susan, it came flat packed and the longest length just fitted in my largest suitcase.i took the measurements from the box and made sure before i bought it. Wendy

| Just remembered something whacky I did bring back a few years ago. I bought a moulded plastic hand!! Was really worried customs would think I had a severed hand in my suitcase!
All sound a bit strange?
I was training to do nail extensions at the time and it was really great to practice on time and time again. I got it really cheap and they were so expensive in UK at the time, isn't that the case with most things still!!!!!!!!!! | CDV

| Hang on a minute - we were under the impression that there were limits on the amount of stuff you can take out of the states without paying duty, yet you people seem to go mental and bring anything and everything. Are you bringing stuff out legally, or are you all international smugglers?
Seriously - what are the limits?
Thanks. | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| We go out once a year normally and stock up on clothes, we rarely buy things in UK.
I buy a years worth of toilettries, body wash(Equate from Walmart), travel size toothpaste and Dove deodarant. Aussie Shampoo and Conditioner.
Pillows for our 6' bed (4), sheet sets, can't resist the prices especially with the current rate of exchange. Used to buy "Bed in a Bag" sets but have to resist as I have one I haven't used yet.
Last trip it took a lot of willpower as I found one in Ross Dress for Less complete with pillows, throws etc. Instead I bought two smaller sets which contained just duvet covers with pillows etc.
Hubbie stocks up on DVD's and has know started a collection of movies for his PSP. We were over for Black Friday and he managed to get some for $3 at the local Movie Stop store.
Our friends taught us how to play Mexican Train Dominoes so we sometimes bring them back with us to give to friends after we have taught them how to play. I'm normally searching for the train markers as they only give you 4 in the set.
Most unusual thing I've brought back is a beach chair with a flexible sun shade. I found it in K-Mart and luckily it fitted into one of the holdalls which you can unzip to extend the size. Hubbie also won a huge Yogi Bear at Sea World amusement arcade and that also came back in a bag.
One year I had cooking spray confiscated from the luggage so I'm wondering how you manage to get Pam cooking spray back (Canary Pam?)
I always state I'm not going to buy much, especially as we went twice last year, but I still come back with bulging bags
I've already had a request for my next trip out, a friend noticed a Monopoly fridge magnet I'd got from Dollartree. Another one of my favourite stores, very good for kitchen gadgets and chocolate pretzels Also does small bottles of Goo Gone. | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| We've bought bikes back in the past which was the largest thing until our most recent trip - last week we bought back two huge boxes of Closet Maid wardrobe shelving solutions:-))) + bits and pieces to attached to it. I was a bit embarrassed putting it on the plane and then again at Gatwick but we couldn't find that kind of thing anywhere here for our new walk-in wardrobes and the nearest we got to it on the internet here the price was over £1000 to fit ourselves. We paid around $300 for the same if not more shelving........brilliant.
We always buy trainers - a must every trip! Walgreens Ibuprofen 200 are very good painkillers for arthritis the rare occasions I take them - they work. Walmart for suncream - we always stock up for the year in the States. And, like others have said lots of household gadgets. I couldn't resist buying my niece some clothes and toys for her new baby (not due until May!) they were so sweet!!!
Value for money is so good - it's a pleasure to shop out there. | http://www.villasflorida.com/florida-vacation-rental-611.aspx

| Apart from all the usual shopping. I normally come home with many different cleaning products My daughter hates the walmart as I could look all day in here. Your list will be huge and you will still see more you want when over there. Remember to leave plenty of room in your case going over as coming home you will wonder if it is all going to fit in. | Nikki D | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

We thought about brining home the DVD set of Lost but I did not think they would play on a UK DVD player? | Karen

| Thanks Caroline. My parents bought a DVD of Cirque De Soliel and we were a bit concerned they would not be able to play it. I guess the best way for them to check to see if there DVD player is multi regional is for them to try the DVD.
What do you have to do to set a laptop to play US DVD's please? If we can sort this out Mike will buy the next series of Lost when he goes out to Florida later in the year. | Karen

Thanks Caroline. You have confimed what Mike thought, that you can only switch 5 times. But so far apart from back-up disks we have never played a DVD on this Laptop! | Karen

Thanks for the replies, people. There are 6 of us travelling, with the youngest being 6 years old - does the 145 quid allowance apply to everyone? Even my kids?
