i am reading up , and seeing a few things on "we were asked for Identification ??
is this age related ?? i was looking over the boardwalk thread as i think that would be a nice visit , and a couple more too
i ask because , although my sister is taking her 10 year old son with her and is 35 .she still gets asked for id some girls have all the luck would it be a good idea for her to carry something with her , even to have a drink with a meal , maybe this might be a problem too with no id
if so , is a photocopy ok , or does it need to be the real thing thank you very much sharon

| The legal alcohol drinking age in Florida is 21 and they're very strict on this. If anyone looks even faintly as if they might be under 21 they need to produce identification and a lot of over 30s have been asked for identification. Flattering really. .
Your sister needs to take original identification with her, usually something government issued with a date of birth and a photo on it like a passport or driving licence, just in case she gets asked for it. | Blott www.orlandovillas.com/villas/150.aspx

I was even more surprised on Friday to be asked for Photo ID Julie. As I'm approaching 52 and wasn't trying to buy alcohol, I went to check in to an hotel in Wembley for the night and paid with cash, whereupon I was asked for photo ID which they need for the records for "security". When I said I didnt have a drivers license she asked if I had my passport and looked a bit surprised when I said it didnt occur to me to take my passport from Kent to London.
The annoying thing was that they ended up the only way they colud take the cash was to register my debit card on the system in case they needed to trace guests which I was trying to avoid as so many people have become victims of identity theft or credit/debit card fraud, where possible I will take cash. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

| | I've been asked for photo ID in the States in some shops when I am using a card to pay-I suppose it's down to each establishments policy-Changing my driving licence to a card one has proved very useful. | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

I know it used to be law 15 years agowhen we first purchased a home in Florida and would have thought since 911 it would be the same now. We have always carried ID around and even at 60++++ get asked for it at some of the shops.

I think you are supposed to carry your passport with you at all times, as you should be able to produce on demand your right of entry into the USA, in most of our cases it is either the piece of the green I94 that they staple into your passport or the Visa if you have one. That's why if you check in at Downtown Disney they dont remove the card from your passport and you have to make sure they do it when you go to the airport. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

| Thanks for this info guys. We never take a passport out with us...you live and learn. Both our drivers licences are the old type too so we would be in trouble. Keep meaning to organise the new photocard ones but forget to do it.

| thank you all really don't like the idea of carrying passports round with us but i guess thats what we will have to do , as we too only have the old driving licence
i did think about submitting for the new one with a photo , but it costs £17.50 to change over , and takes 3 weeks , and i only just thought about it in the last few days so no time to do that thanks again for your reply's sharon | Edited by - louisbourg on 05 Apr 2008 16:48:24 | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |
