hi everyone
i have read through the threads , but any more recent information would be helpful
i have done searches and trying to find maps and things

really what i would like to know is , is anything withing walking distance from our villa , ie restraunts etc
i am sorry if this is a stupid question
but we are going to be first timers
or if anyone can recommend eating places close by , i think there is a supermarket but i don't know the road names and so it is hard to work out which is the nearest one to narrow searches etc
i am trying really hard to read up on the names of the highways , what number goes where and so on ,

anyway , anything little you could tell me would be great including the number of the new?? shortcut road to disney

we booked the villa before i found this site , and i have spoke to the owners who are very nice , thank you so much again , maybe i am worrying a bit now , but just trying to prepare a little ,
sharon

Hi Sharon,

Sorry I don't know the area where you'll be staying but it's unusual for anything to be within walking distance in Florida, the car is still King in the USA. Even if shops and restaurants are within walking distance there are few sidewalks, plus it could be very hot for walking.

Why don't you contact the owners again and ask your questions, as they will know the area best? As owners ourselves we would much rather our guests asked us any questions they have rather than worrying about things.

You really have no need to worry, there are always shops etc within easy reach, wherever you are. Relax, you will have an amazing time.

Enjoy!

Nina

I am sure, as Nina has so rightly said, that your villa owner would be delighted to answer any of your questions. They will have the expert knowledge of their area etc and will no doubt be able to put your mind at rest. I am sure that nearer your time of departure they will send you out some information and maps to help you plan your stay, and they will be able to tell you more precisely what restaurants, shops etc are near to your chosen villa.

Helping our guests to prepare for their visit to our villa, and answering all their queries, no matter how small, is one of the highlights of villa ownership, and I am sure that your villa owner will want to give you all the help he can.

Just ask, Sharon, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

There are also numerous threads on the forum which will answer questions about where to eat etc, so give that a try, too.

oh thank you both very much , i am sure you are right
i just don't like to trouble her and seem like a pest

maybe my pack will arrive yet .....just under 5 weeks to go , getting too excited i guess, i think i should just take a step back now , and let it fall into place

i am reading up on the eating threads , and that's proving a problem as i don'y know where any of them are

oh well all part of the fun
think i might drop the owner a line and see what happens

thanks again nina and ellie

If there is anything that Karen doesn't send you get in touch as I may be able to fill in the gaps for you as we are on there too.I have a map I send out showing all the shortcuts available for getting to the parks which you are most welcome to have.
As for nearby things Publix at Sand Mine Road is the closest supermarket just about 1/2 mile south and it is here you will also find Applebees , take aways and eating places. and you are about 1 1/2 miles from a Super Walmart and Chilis to the north.

Hi Sharon
Where are you staying ?
Have you looked on google earth ?
You should be able to find your villa by the zipcode, if you have it.
I know Google earth is not up to date, but if you tick show supermarkets etc on the menu you can get a good idea how close you are to places.

We went to Miami last year and used google earth to find nearest Walmarts, restaraunts etc
We have just over 5 weeks to our holiday and we are all organised so far.................
My husband has packed !
He takes a few things in a small carry on case as we buy most of our clothes, toiletries etc over in Florida.

Sharon, I'd be devastated if I thought a guest didn't want to 'trouble' me with questions that are important to them and I know other owners would feel the same.

Is there a difference between Lake Davenport Estates and Davenport Lake?

We've been looking at a villa in Davenport Lakes, but the name of a street in another thread about Lake Davenport Estates appears to be the next housing estate down the 27 from the one we are looking at which is right next to Polo Park Golf Course

Yes there is a difference .As you head south on 27 from 192 Davenport Lakes is before Lake Davenport Estates .Lake Davenport Estates is on the junction of 27 and Florence Villa Grove Road.

I can never understand the thinking behind having 2 communities so close to each other with almost identical names.

There is nothing wrong with Davenport Lakes -it is a very nice community and has-I believe a community pool and children's playground .It backs onto Old Lake Davenport itself and is handy for the Wal Mart ,Publix and traveling to the coasts as it is only 6 miles from the I4 .
