Hi All,

We're going out in 4 weeks and one of our party is older generation and has problms with his legs which means he can't walk for hours on end round Disney etc!

How do you go about obtaining the mobility cars in Disney? do you have to pre book them or first come first served on the day?

Any help appreciated.

My Uncle took his mobility cart back and got a wheelchair as he found it daunting trying to drive with so many people around. As Martin says get there early

My dad is the same, he's able to walk ok but not for hours on end. He rented a cart at Busch Gardens last week and was able to book online the night before. This guaranteed him a cart. May be worth checking to see if you can book at Disney unless you are planning on getting there for park opening.

Hi:
My husband rented a mobility cart when we went to Sea World this year. We wanted to go on a Monday so we phoned to Sea World and booked it on the Thurs. before. Using a our credit card to keep it.

When we went to pick it up we told the people at the desk and no problem they saw where we had reserved it. They said go out and wait and somebody will bring it along shortly.

That's when the problem started. They only had 2 people bringing the carts out and a line quickly formed. All of the people were very cooperative and patient except for one and she thought she should jump ahead of everyone. She had a time on her receipt and that's what she thought they should go by, no matter if someone else was ahead of her.

Made for a bit of a rough start to the day but it all got ironed out quickly.

We really enjoyed the rest of the day tho.

We used a wheelchair for my husband's mother as the mobility carts had already gone, they do go quickly.

I also can't walk for long periods of time and am an occasional wheelchair user. Do think about it carefully though. Is the person used to using a motorised wheelchair? I can use one when I am feeling otherwise fit and alert, but if I am at all tired (maybe after a long hot day in the parks) or the park/shop is very busy then I do find it rather hard work. I have now decided that I am better with a manual wheelchair which is pushed for me. Luckily there are always plenty in our party to oblige - in fact my dad is not brilliant at walking distances and he likes to hold on & push for support. My knee is always a very popular place for the smallest of our party at the end of the day too!!!
Plan your day carefully so you have plenty of stops for the less fit members of the party. Also they may not want to go on all the rides but you shouldn't have a problem finding places for them to sit while they wait for others. You may find some other handy hints here:

My mum in law uses the ECV in the parks and they were $40 with a $5 refund when you take the key back, if you go into another park on the same day you just hand the reciept and your $5 over the counter and if they have any spare you can use one.
