On Nov the 1st 2008, Weeki Wachee will become a State Park. The Mayor of Weeki Wachee signed the historic document last thursday that sold the attraction for $10.

The population of the City of Weeki Wachee is 9 and they were given the park free of charge by the previous owners.

The State Parks department stated that they fully intended to keep on the mermaid show which has been the main attraction of this roadside park.

We've been to this park a couple of times and us and the children loved it, especially meeting the mermaids. A relaxing day out for the family.

yes we went some years ago and I can still wonder at the mermaids; I also believe in Father Christmas

We went on our last visit and had a lovely day out. It is certainly something different. They also had the beach area and 'water park' but that was only open at weekends when we last went (I think it was on our January trip).
