I finally got myself a Wii. After a couple of evenings, well they normally started at 5.00pm and finished around 3.00am at the neighbours over xmas playing there's i decided to bite the bullet and get one of them! Great family entertainment!!!

I got it from Amazon UK and didn't pay over the odds!

I have heard a lot of reports that most of the docking stations for the remotes are not very good and in fact can damage the remotes

We have had a docking station since June and it works perfectly. Brand is Joytech.

Buy another remote and buy the Mario & Sonic Olympics, very addictive.

You can buy a wii remote for about £30, or you can buy wii Play for about £32-35, and this comes with a wii remote. Much better value, in my opinion. Wii Play has some fun games on it.

One of the best games is the sport game you get free. I like the sound of the Mario & Sonic olympics though

Ten PIn bowling had us all of a sweat at Christmas - that is, fighting to get a go!
Good family entertainment.
Mario golf was fun but I understand that there is a Toger Woods version which I presume will be a BIT more difficult!

The latest Wii operating system lets you plug in a standard USB keyboard to the USB port and this will then work with the Opera web-browser, much easier for surfing. Haven't actually tried this myself, yet.

My sister has just bought a Wii for my nephews birthday next week so I thought I'd buy him a game, obviously I can't ask him which game he wants without spoiling the surprise for him so...... what would al you Wii experts recommend for an 8 year old boy?

Caroline,

As already said, Mario at the Olympics is great fun, but quite difficult to get hold of at the moment.

Another suggestion might be Wii Play, as you get another controller with that, as well as some games.

My eight year old got the Ben10 game for christmas, and he loves playing it, although that could be because he is a Ben 10 Fanatic! I don't know how good this game is compared to others, but he might like it if he is into Ben10.

My 18 year old student daughter works part time for Morrisons supermarket, she came in yesterday from work with a Wii , it was read over the tannoy that 5 had come into the store , her boss gave her permission to join the stampede .and after she used her staff discount card it only cost £155 . When we gave it a try last night I thought my arm was going to fall off after around 10 minutes [ perfect for getting rid of the Bingo Wings LOL.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll double check what my sister has bought and try for one of the above.
