| As far as I'm aware, Cow & Gate isn't available in Florida as the US has lots of its own brands of milk. You can get it delivered to you but it's quite expensive. I've DM'd the link to you.
You best bet, because your baby is probably well settled on C & G, is to take a supply of it with you so that you don't have to change it just for your holiday and risk upsetting your baby. | Blott www.orlandovillas.com/villas/150.aspx

| we had this when my daughter came to visit but she just brought her own, just in case there were any tummy upsets. Immigration asked if she had ant food with her and she just told them baby food, they were fine as it was it her case. but be aware you can not make up the formula for the flight, the powder must stay separate. sue | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| When our son Barney was 6 months old, we took him on his first Florida trip. We had both been made redundant so went for a whole month! I had been told that getting his usual formula (SMA) may prove tricky, so we took enough sachets for the whole month!! Plus the steriliser and a kettle too! This was before we had the villa so we were staying in hotels. The baby food was also different brands to the UK but there was loads of choice so no problem there.

| Hi, I have this problem in a couple of months time. My baby is on Hipp Organic which I know I won't be able to get over there. When we took our middle daughter when she was 4 months I bought a tin of milk powder in walgreens and remember a lot were made by carnation. They supply the Disney baby centres too. I didn't see any UK brands over there at all.

| | For maya we just take our own from here in the uk. She is on amptamil & hipp neither are available in orlando so we took lots the first time (when she was 4.5 mths old) but as she was 1 year in Aug when we last went and on solids we took less. Just remember to take a little more than you think you will need for the flight say 1 to 3 more portions extra incase there are any delays. We had to taste 1 in aug too not very nice but we managed. | Berni Deno and Maya http://www.onlinefloridavillas.com/florida-vacation-rental-1997.aspx | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| | The other thing to consider alkso when taking it is not to pack it all in one suitcase just in case it goes astray. Spread it out over your cases and then if one should not arrive with the others you will still have some. As the hand luggage allowance has been eased now you should be able to take a couple of tins in your hand luggage with no problem. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

| When I took DD to New Zealand I called the manufacturer of my brand of baby milk and asked them if it was available. It was but it was called something different. Same stuff different label so I would never have known by looking. They also told me which stores I could find it in. It was great as I only needed to take a little with me and buy more when i got there.
Would save all that room in the cases!

| Just double checked on the Hipp website and they have a list of stockists abroad but sadly it said this
'We regret that HiPP products are not available in the USA, Australia or New Zealand'

| Hi Des
I would also advise you to take an old bottle with you, that you can make up the formula to use on the plane and then leave behind. As we had an embarassing situation with the sniffer dogs in the airport who could still smell the trace of milk from the empty bottle in our hand luggage.

| | ooh Fran, glad you mentioned that, I hadn't thought about that. I actually plan on taking those steribottles that are disposable for the plane. I will pack the normal bottles in the case I think. | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| Somethings if you have booked a villa it's worth just asking the owner if they have them, for instance we keep a microwave steam steriliser in ours. If you prefer to sterlise using more traditional methods it's easier to take over some sterlising tablets with you, if you want to you can pack an empty 4 litre ice cream tub within your luggage so it takes no space and you can throw it away before you come home.
My daughter was horrified when we were at the airport, she came out of the toilets saying the baby she had just seen being fed in the toilets would either have a very strong stomach or food poisoning. She watched the 2 ladies with the baby, who my daughter thought looked as though it was only a matter of weeks (or 3/4 months) at the oldest. First one of the ladies changed the baby on the side, whilst the other lady emptied out the last of a feed from the bottle into the sink, she then proceeded to rinse the bottle under the hot tap and then made up a new feed from the hot tap, which once she had finished , she then passed to the other lady who (having just changed the dirty nappy and not washed her hands, took it by the teat and put straight in the babies mouth.
It doesnt take much forethought as you are obviously doing to plan these thngs and whilst sometimes you may be delayed longer than expected there are usually hygienic ways around them without resorting to this. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

| Thanks Steph, can't believe someone would make a feed up in the toilets!
We did the ice cream tub thing many years ago when Sydney was a baby and we went to Spain a lot.
When we took our first flight to Florida with the girls, Libby was 4 months. I then found these disposable sterilising bags that have 2 tablets in and last 24 hours.
I had the Virgin staff hang them up in the kitchen area for me. It's tricky traveling with babyies sometimes but we always find a way.
My problem is heating up bottles, Oren is VERY particular about the temperature of his milk! He likes it very warm and when out and about this can be difficult.
I am actually more worried about the coach trip down to gatwick than the plane journey because at least I know I will have access to boiling water on the plane.
All the bottle warmers I have ever tried have been rubbish! | | Report this post to a moderator | goto top of page |

| With the children I have childminded over the years I found the easiest way was a thermos flask, I have seen them recently for sale but will have to try and remember where they were. The top of the flask is like a beaker so is designed to take a feeding bottle. If you've made up the bottle then you fill the flask with boiling water and then tip it into the top and stand the bottle in. If you do use this method for on the coach trip though you have to remember to pack it into your luggage when you arrive until they cahnge the stupid regulation about "having no container capable of carrying more then 100ml" when you go through security. I say stupid because once you gone through you can buy a 750ml bottle of water and take that on the plane with you so where is the logic?
The self heating bottle warmers came out after I didnt need them so have no idea if they work or not.

The logic is that purchasing a bottle of water after security means that it has come from a verifiable source whereas taking larger quanitities of liquids from home can't be guaranteed as being harmless. | Blott www.orlandovillas.com/villas/150.aspx

| | It's not the volume of liquid that was the problem I was thinking of Blott, the regulations state that you cannot have a container that is capable of holding more than 100ml, so if for example, you have a sunscreen bottle of 200ml that is only a 1/3rd full they wont allow you to take it on as you could potentially use the container to mix the ingredients from the smaller bottles you are allowed to carry. To my mind you can just as easily buy a larger bottle of water and empty it and use it in the same way. | Babblin Boo http://www.orlandovillas.com/villas/92.aspx

| When I flew with DD when she was 5 months it was to New Zealand so making the bottles was a nightmare. What I did was to take a large tupperware box and sterilising tablets on the plane. The air hostesses allowed me to use the galley to sterilise my bottles and I used the pre made cartons for the flight.
I agree though that the steri bottles are the way to go. Then once used you can just throw them away.
As for heating them up I'm sure they will give you hot water in the galley.

You can't buy Cow and Gate in the USA.
We had to take a box of powder with us and also a stack of ready made cartons. We arranged to buy the cartons at Boots in the departure lounge at Newcastle so that we had them after security (if you phone them up they will put them to one side for you). US Customs aren't as interested in Baby fluids as our customs officers are and on your return they won't make you taste it, just have a look and make sure you have a baby with you.
