Hi there we are staying in emerald island and am wondering what is the distance/driving times from Emerald to
a)Magic Kingdom
b)Epcot.

From Emerald Island it is approximately 12 minutes to Epcot and 20 minutes to Magic Kingdom. This assumes that you leave outside peak travelling time when it may take a little longer.
EI is very close to WDW and it takes only 5 minutes to get onto Disney property but of course the various parks are a considerable distance from each other in some cases.
