Dear Mr Kilbey

With effect from 22 September 2006, passengers departing from UK airports with Virgin Atlantic will be permitted to carry one item of cabin baggage each, equal in size to those carried before restrictions were introduced on 10 August 2006.

Cabin baggage must not exceed a maximum length of 56 cm, width of 36 cm and depth of 23 cm including wheels, handles, side pockets etc. Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage. All items will be x-ray screened and for must not exceed 6 kilos in weight for passengers travelling in Economy or Premium Economy, or 8 kilos for those travelling in Upper Class.

Passengers carrying one musical instrument in its case, which is too large to fit within the cabin baggage allowance, can carry it through the airport security checkpoint, in addition to the above allowance. However, please note that storage space is very restricted on board and the carriage of additional items may be declined at check in without notice. Please contact us in advance, if you have any questions or if you plan to carry a large musical instrument.

Powdered and/or solid cosmetics can also now be carried in cabin baggage. Restrictions on the carriage of liquids, gels and toiletries remain unchanged.

This easing of restrictions is not a return to normal as the revised regulations will continue to have an impact on airport operations. As a result, we ask passengers to remain patient while these additional security measures are in place and still advise passengers to allow extra time for their journey and to arrive at the airport prepared.

Full and comprehensive information is available on our website at www.virginatlantic.com and we would recommend that you review this information carefully before you travel.

We hope to see you on board soon,

The Flying Club team
