A local dog is recovering after an alligator attack.

The 9-foot, 200-pound gator took a chunk out of the yellow lab on Lake Mary Jane in Orange County, WESH 2 News reported.

A trapper caught it hours later.

Roger Robbins said he was playing with his son's dog when it happened.

"The gator came out from under the lake and grabbed her by the right leg and pulled her down," he said.

Ellie was rushed to the vet and is recuperating. She now has 20 staples in her chest and more than 20 stitches. unquote

Nasty for the dog, but I suppose the alligators were there first.....

There is a huge gator at Gatorland, can't remember his name but he was captured after a large number of dogs dissappeared in Tampa.

As Dawn says, they were there first.
