March 28th
Today was another gloriously sunny day when we arose, contrary to the weather forecast which had promised rain until noon
It was for this reason that we had changed our schedule and our planned visit to Blizzard Beach was postponed until tomorrow.
today was also the day that the "grown ups" had set aside to do jobs and shopping.
The plan was for the "kids" to go to Epcot and for us to meet them later for a bite to eat and the fireworks.
I woke with the "lurgy". I was aching all over, especially my shoulders, legs and back, I had a thumping head and a sore throat. It was most peaceful for everyone when they realised I had hardly any voice either!
I couldn't let my early morning swim go just cos I was under the weather, and despite the beautiful blue sky there was a nip in the air so that when we removed the pool cover there was steam rising from the pool......lovely! It was a bit like being in a turkish bath!
Stuart took the kids to Epcot and arranged to meet outside Spaceship earth at 6pm if we had not contacted them before. We cleared breakfast away and after a couple of sudafed tabs and 2 or 3 cups of tea I started to feel a little more human.
Stuart and David were going to do a few DIY bits and pieces whilst Helen and I hit Walmart.
We debated about which way to go in view of the traffic jams on our last trip and decided to go via the 192. The traffic in our direction was not bad at all but was quite heavy on the other side in the direction of Disney, it was moving though, albeit slowly.
It was a good move to go this way as we spotted "Pinch a Penny" and at short notice with not a lot of signaling we veered off into the car park
We bought a net for the pool, a box to cover the pool controls and a pool thermometer topped with a duck. we later named him Derek the Duck as he was not at all Disneyesque so Donald didn't suit him
Off to Walmart where this trip we managed 3 trollies ( I'm learning Blott, I'm learning!)Amongst other things we bought bigger and better towels, nicer crockery, a shoe rack for the myriads of shoes which seemed to have congregated around the front door, drawers for the owners cupboard and goodness only knows what else.
Whilst we were there Sophie rang us to say she had arrived home safely....sadly no upgrade this time
We called at Publix for supplies on the way back and picked up some sarnies from Subway
The boys were sunning themselves on the deck when we got back, but were insistent that they had only just finished fitting the safe....a likely story
We had lunch in the sunshine, another swim, and then moved inside to unpack the shopping.
As we still had not heard from the furniture people re our dining chair and our other bits and pieces, Stuart rang them again...result, they would deliver them tomorrow and leave them under the lanai if we were out
It was by this time 4pm so we decided to head over to Epcot. We parked in Amaze which was close to the entrance and strolled to the park without the need for the tram. The late afternoon sun was beautiful but there was a stiff breeze and we realised that we were not dressed warmly enough for when the sun went down I was also starting to feel a bit ropey again.
Once inside we headed for Test Track and Mission space, both had 70 min queues and had stopped giving out fastpasses. We could have joined the single rider queue but we weren't overly bothered and wandered off to The Wonders of Life to watch the excellent Cranium Command.
With the sun still shining the others fancied an ice cream, I had little appetite with my aches and sore throat but we sat on a bench and watched the world go by whilst they enjoyed their choices.
The temp was definitely dropping so we headed into "Mousegear" to find something warm to wear. I managed to find a warm hooded jacket with an indiscreet logo which did not scream "Disney", so I was set. Helen was not so lucky, she is smaller than me (considerably!!!)and everything was either too big or not to her taste. David and Stu were happy to brave the elements.
As we were leaving the shop we met the kids just coming from Mission Space where they had used their fast passes. James had not been on the ride ( bit like his mum} and had kept Nic....still wheelchair bound, company. The girls were all looking quite cold and we decided a jacket buying session was definitely in order soon. We headed for spaceship earth but on the way I stopped off in guest relations. I had some tickets which I had from our trip 6 years previously and thought they may still be good for the water parks, which they were, so we could use them tomorrow. We got in the line for Spaceship earth, I didn't notice the wait time but it moved very quickly. Our wheelchair party had to go via a separate entrance so Nick and Nic left us at this point. We moved steadily to join the ride and were soon climbing upwards, we had been on the ride a few minutes when it stopped, we all joked that, that would be "Brian and Barbara Potter" getting off. When the ride was finished there was no sign of Nick and Nic so we went to stand outside. James went to the lockers to get his hoodie and Nats jacket, whilst David went back to the car as he had a jacket there and also Nat had another jumper in the car. Still no sign of the others and as there were 2 exits Jonathon went to check around the otherside. No sign of them, eventually I went inside again to find them waiting at the end of the ride, they must have boarded after us. David came back with his jacket and jumper for Nat, James had his hoodie, so we headed back to the shop to find something warm for Helen, Nic and Kitty. The other men weren't bothered. The world and his wife had had the same idea and it looked like a plague of locusts had hit the shelves
We eventually found something for everyone and set off in search of a cup of coffee as no one fancied food, least of all me, by this point I was really suffering
The coffee shop was closing so we decided to head towards world showcase. James Nat and Nick still wanted to do Test Track so we were given charge of the wheelchair and arranged to meet them back at the car after the fireworks.
We picked up a coffee at one of the stands and some of the others had pastries as well. David opted for Fish and Chips at Harry Ramsdens. The queue was enormous, so I waited for him whilst the others moved on to find a vantage point for the fireworks. We caught up with them just outside The American Adventure which sadly we did not have time to see if we were going to watch the fireworks. James Nick and Nat also discovered us here. They went to pick up fast food whilst we were waiting, whilst myself, David and Nic had another coffee. Stuart and Jonathon had gone off to buy jumpers from Helly Hanson in Norway.
By the time the fireworks started we were all assembled again.
I have to admit to being somewhat disappointed with Reflections of Earth. I didn't think it was as good as Illuminations and missed all the lasers and the way they used to play the music as every country was lit up individually. It could however just have been a reflection of my mood as I was feeling far from 100%
We headed back to the car after the fireworks and set off home, making good progress until we met a solid wall of traffic headed for the 192 and the I4, it was going nowhere, looks like they were playing silly b*****s with the roadworks again. The traffic headed for the 536 was going well so after 20 mins I told David to get into the other lane and head for the 536. We moved easily, onto the 536 and down Polynesian Isle to the 192, traffic moving East(? not very good with my East and west) was heavy, he was on the verge of saying "what now clever clogs?" when I told him to turn left and trust me. I had only read about this way on the forum so now it was time to put it to the test. Right at Poinciana and past all those communities whose names were so familiar to me, past Eagle Pointe....I know where you are now Jan! At the junction with OBT turn right, "are you sure you know where you are going" he asks, trust me I'm a member of OV forums
At the junction of 532 turn right, down the road a while and left into Sandy Ridge, wave to the security woman who attempts to get us to stop yet again!!!We were home at least 40 mins ahead of the others, him indoors was well impressed with my navigating
All thanks to this forum
I was off to bed with a cuppa and 2 sudafed hoping I would be OK tomorrow our last full day!

Great report Liz, although sorry to hear you were under the weather. Its great when you are able to see where the communities are in person, helps you to picture where they are against your own villa.
