Wet n Wild has some great family water rides. I like the ones like Fuji Flyer where all 4 of us can go down together.
The lazy river isn't as nice as the Disney Water parks though not as scenic.
They have some pretty neat thrill slides too.

We like Wet and Wild for the good slides, but find we can't spend the day there like you can at the Disney water parks because the surroundings are not as nice. The good thing is that everything is close so you don't have to walk miles between slides. The black hole is good!

Wet and Wild is my favourite of all the water parks. We find it's best to go in the afternoon after a trip to Universal. On a Flex ticket you don't have to pay to park here as you've already paid at Uni. Nobody gets too bored either if we go that time.

I've not been to Wet 'N Wild since 1979 (I think!!) when I went as a child with my parents. Seemed to remember it being great fun - a massive water slide was the best memory .

In those days Disney only had River Country which we did not like as much as Wet 'n Wild, although we did enjoy it there too.

Must visit Wet 'N Wild again now I have children of my own.

John

The kiddie area is particularly good - a large expanse of fountains, water guns and stuff.
We went on the flex-ticket too. A couple of hours is enough - too much concrete but the rides really do rival Disney IMO.

There is very little shade at Wet'n'Wild, which makes it very difficult to stay there for a day. When it is very hot you have to have pool shoes otherwise you'll burn your feet on the concrete pathways which are everywhere. Either go first thing in the morning or early evening otherwise you could fry waiting for your turn on the slides.

Have not been to W&W for some time now - last time was quite a few years back.

What does stick in my mind is that you pay for the lockers to store your valuables etc. However, everytime you wanted to get something from the locker, you had to pay again. I am not sure if this is the case now.

Antother thing that I remember is the main pool with its wave facility. You need to watch the kids as the waves can be quite forceful. For that matter if you are in the pool you need to watch out and be prepared for each wave surge.

I agree about there not being much shade around, so you need slippers or such to walk around. Good idea to go early morning or early evening and avoid the mid morning to early afternoon.

We found the black hole a lot of fun. We did not try the STUKA (the highest and almost perpendicular slide) - we chickened out. However, we were amused at the looks of the faces of the folk who tried it.

Rodders,

You only pay once now for the lockers a price which included a deposit. They give you a key and a token and you give both back to get back your deposit. I've got both a key and a token home here, couldn't find the token to take back so my son decided to keep the key as well to see if it would work this year!!

I like the way they spray the ground there to cool it down a little bit.

I agree about the black hole and as for Der Stuka, I'm the only one in the family that hasn't ridden it. My excuse - I had my enema when I had my son

We found W&W great fun (or those that like the scary wet rides did!) but too hot in the summer. Both Catriona and I got prickly heat which lasted about 5 days, and we didn't go for more than a few hours!

So we now stick to the Disney water parks where there is plenty of shade. However since managing to burn the top of my head last summer I now always wear a hat even in the shade.

Haven't been for 12 years.

Is it still very concrete-y?

My hubby and our boys did The Storm and they said it was great. Just be careful that you don't bang your head.

For the real brave, I think you should try "Bomb Bay"

It's a very high slide but unlike a normal one where
you sit down and push your self away, You get into a
capsule about half a phone box in size, your told to
stand up with your back and feet stright, door locks!

and seconds later the floor opens up and down you go
very very fast

Makes Kraken a walk in the park
