| After reading lots of info on this Forum I have now changed my plans and decided not to visit Magic Kingdom on Christmas day.
I am now going to Magic Kingdom on my son's 3rd birthday which is 14th December. I would like to take him for a character lunch, not breakfast as he will be busy opening presents.
What I would like to know is can the restaurant provide a birthday cake, I have tried to phone them this week but the line was very busy.

| We have had a couple of birthdays at Crystal palace. The only cake they provide is a single sponge, enough for one with a candle in it. They also bring you a birthday card.
What happens is the server brings it to the table with one of the characters, usually the others have others who are celebrating as well.
Then they get the birthday girl/boy up and march around the restuarant singing Happy birthday.
Our daughter had her 5th birthday here and ended up marching with a drum around her neck following Eeyore.
It was all good fun. |

| | Liberty Tree Tavern do a very good Character Dinner (Lunch is also good but characters seldom present) that starts quite early - 5pm, I think. You may want to check that out if you don't get a suitable lunch programme. |

| Hello,
I wanted to take my son to character birthday meal at Universal Studios a few years ago but found it was fully booked over a week before the date I wanted, yet the following week there were vacancies due to cancellations.
But by this time I had already booked in at the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom for a birthday breakfast with POOH and Friends which was fabulous for a young child.
What happens is that the parks (and hotels for that matter) allow people to advance book and then cancel at the last minute, with no cost if they change their mind, great for the canceller but annoying for other people who wanted that day and found it fully booked.
If you want a certain day for the meal then contact the park early either by phone or e-mail to advance book.

We took our son on his 4th birthday to a Character Breakfast. We secretely took along a present hoping one of the characters would give it to him. They explained they couldn't do that as other children would expect the same but with a timed distraction when Mickey walked past, the present magically appeared beside him. For years he believed Mickey had got him exactly what he'd been asking for all holiday!

I agree with the others. Crystal Palace is great for birthdays. We've been there many times and our kids love it. You can choose from a cheap cake to an expensive cake. The Pooh characters are great fun. And the buffet is great for adults and kids alike.

| We have booked Chef Mickey`s at the contemporary hotel our son`s birthday is 30th Dec
We have been many times before (not for his birthday) and it`s ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Periodically everyone raises their napkins in the air twirling them around and singing "lets celebrate" and this is nothing to do with birthday celebrations. The birthday boy or girl gets out of their seat walks around the restaurant (with one of the characters) and everyone sings "happy birthday" to them. The food is good they do breakfast or dinner, no lunch. First time for dinner is 5pm so maybe that might be ok for you.
