As the instigator of this thread - just an update.

Arrived at Alamo, Tampa on 2nd November to find not a vehicle available for anyone - after quite a wait some vehicles were purloined from wherever and we were told to help ourselves irrespective of vehicle class ordered and paid for.

I was in the Compact variety and drove out a SUV with 4 miles on the clock for my 5 week stay so happy.

Back to Alamo on Monday, 7th December to find chaos at 4 p.m. there was barely space to drive into the Returns area.

Paperwork given to me stating I had collected the car with 2,000 miles on the clock and had returned it at 2,043 miles - didn't go far in 5 weeks!

2,043 miles was the correct final mileage reading.

So, the 64 cents that I was due to pay and claim for was reduced to 9 cents or £0.06p according to my credit card statement this morning - thank you Roger but I don't think I will claim the 9 cents!

Either Alamo is over-whelmed with car rentals or they can't cope.
