Why not try one of the Samuel Adams or Amber Boch? Plenty of choice in the supermarkets.

Sam Adams Boston Lager [clap]
I agree, try one of the smaller breweries. There are some fantastic beers outside of the larger conglomerates.

Try a Landshark Lager. Jimmy Buffett's brand.

Tried some for the first time last November. Liked it and will be having some more this May.

Reminds me of being in the Rose & Crown Epcot a couple of years back & young (ish!) American lady asked her husband/boyfriend what one of the English beers was like; to which he replied 'Sort of like Bud - but with teaste'.

Pay attention to the alcohol level of canned and bottled beers.
I picked up a 4-pack of 'Steel Reserve' from Publix. I was looking for something more like our bitter back home and reading the info on the can, this seemed a bit more malty than most lagers so I took it to give it a try.
No red flags or anything and it was only $2.69 for the 4-pack.
The stuff tasted full-bodied alright but when I looked closer I saw it was 8.1% alcohol volume. Dangerous.

Sounds great to me![party2]

[/quote]My brother in law was trying to see what strength different beers were when we were in Publix but we couldn't find any that had the % on them or the number of units like they do over here.
I just assumed they were all more or less 5% like Bud is[?]

Funny! But after living here since the 80s..... so true!

You can purchase "The one and only" Newcastle Brown Ale in Publix. It is a little more expensive than the American lagers but for taste it certainly beats the "fizzy pop" of Bud.
but ... but ... but ... why?
Nothing against Newcastle Brown Ale, but there are a wealth of good microbrews out there to try ... go on, you know you want to.
