Sat Navs are probably more useful for finding your way home from parks, particularly in the dark after a long day and finding the villa for the first time. You can hire them at the airport, but at least you can be sure that hiring from this site, someone with knowledge of the area has programmed in your villa. When you search for our home on sat nav, it takes you to a street a couple of miles away. Someone who knows the area would easily spot this.
[/quote]I agree with this. I also find it is very hard to get lost as the signage is very good.

We got a TOM TOM with a USA map on Ebay for about £25 in the UK which we are able to take with us so have it at the airport, much cheaper than hiring one. Its great.

We hired a sat nav from this site for a road trip from North Carolina to our Florida villa which came preloaded with our hotel address so we only had to turn it on at the airport and it worked very well for the whole time we needed it.
Hired one on a whim for one day in California from Dollar for a day trip and half hour out of San Franscico it stopped working and we had a very difficult time sorting it out customer service was dreadful - next time we need one we will order in advance from this site.
